The pontoon is made of strong polymer polyethylene and other materials. It has good weather resistance and impact resistance. It can resist ultraviolet, antifreeze, anti-seawater chemical grease and other erosion. It can automatically rise and fall with the tide. It is widely used in the construction of floating platform projects such as floating bridges and floating docks.
In some other areas, pontoons also have special uses. For example, people often use the "float fishing method" to salvage wrecks by filling several pontoons with water and sinking them to the bottom of the water. The divers use steel cables to smash them in the shipwreck. On both sides, then, the compressor on the salvage ship starts to press the air into the float, and the water in the cylinder is discharged, and the ship can float.
